Homeschooling: Lesson 15 - Colors Review, 3 Little Pigs, Lupang Hinirang

So  I lost my pics for this Lesson due to Skype app crash forcing me to upgrade my phone to iOS4. Tsk.

Anways, we reviewed the colors for this.We also had listened to the Three Little Pigs which he is already familiar with. He loves this story because of the huffing and puffing.

We moved on to the next activity of helping the animals go to their homes. My mom called in the middle of this activity to greet me for my birthday. And yeah, I celebrated it by working plus homeschooling. :) Fun.

We sang Lupang Hinirang again. He just loves the flags. Also played a memory game at the end of this lesson.

Homeschooling: Lesson 14 - Green, Number Readiness, I'm Glad, City Mouse Country Mouse

Here's Dabby showing off his green painted hands for the color green today. He wanted me painted too so he took my hand and painted it too.

We used his cars and airplanes to present the concept of up, high, down, low.

And since this kid mostly learns by actually seeing and doing, I had to improvise the story for country mouse and city mouse. Here are the small bears as country mouse and city mouse. We used beads to present the food they ate.

Here is Mr. Cat having at it with the poor mice.

"I'm Glad" green and blue coloring time. But he insists on coloring the space between.

Homeschooling: Lesson 13 - Parts of Head, Gingerbread Man, Likeness

Dabby had  a fun time with the activities today. He already knows the parts of the head so this lesson was just a refresher.

We read the Gingerbread Man and he was listening quietly. So as usual I had to do voice variations for him to get interested with it. It's just interesting to note that most of the stories for young kids actually involve brutality and violence. LOL.

For the activity sheet, he was not listening to me and I had to encourage him in choosing the similar items.

He was able to draw a face and we gave it a name! Meet Donald.

Homeschooling: Lesson 12 - Orange, Middle, Center Rounds, More Poems, Skipping, Listening

Reviewed the color orange today through tracing and coloring, etc.

Today we studied middle, center and round. He is familiar with these words but I had to reinforce that center is for round things as opposed to center.

Enjoyed Humpty Dumpty (used his old book) and Old Mother Hubbard.

We played the song Skip to My Lou and taught him skipping. He has a long way to go with it.

Homeschooling: Lesson 11 - Left Right Review, Stories Review

Reviewed left and right today. For the stories review, we read Lazy Jack and dramatized the story using his stuffed toys.

Used his toy cat for the cat that Jack held with his hand.
Used the toy horse for the donkey that Jack carried on his shoulders all the way home.

Today I realized that Dabby is a Tactile/Kinesthetic Learners and learns through hands-on activities and by experience.

Tactile/Kinesthetic persons learn best through a hands-on approach, actively exploring the physical world around them. They may find it hard to sit still for long periods and may become distracted by their need for activity and exploration.

This is for the story of Peter Rabbit. This is him pretending to be Peter Rabbit hiding in the watercan.

We used his blue stuffed toy rabbit and used his own coat and baptism shoes to dress it up.

This is him pretending to to be Mr. McGregor.

After such, we proceeded the worksheet and traced the corresponding story detail. He already knew Red Riding Hood by the way so we skipped it.

EXTRA:

I gave him my camera and told him to take any picture he liked. His shots were really interesting. Here are some of his captured stuff.

Above picture shows his previous circle chalk drawings on the pavement.

Homeschooling: Lesson 10 - Blues, Chalks and Paints

We started with reviewing blue (he already knows all his colors so this was just an enrichment activity). We also updated his small chart of colors that already had red, orange and yellow.

I also had him review counting and "inside outside" by having him count only the buttons that are inside the blue paper.

Had fun with the chalks and we jumped around inside and outside the circles he made using different colors. I gave instructions like -- jump inside the red circle -- and he followed these orders. It was his first time to use chalk so he vandalized the whole pavement with his drawings of circles. He was really having fun jumping around. His drawings then evolved to caterpillars and spiders and butterflies that he can jump into.

The next day after this, our trampoline was filled with chalk drawings. His dad also taught him to make stick drawings and we had fun imitating the arms and legs position of his stick men.

Red dust was all over the place when it finally rained and washed his drawings away.

I also read to him the story and poem for the day but he was uninterested. I continued with it though and asked him some questions after that. He recalled some details about the story which is good but still can't tell the story sequence (whew that was a long one after all!) Roses are Red is no sweat. He already knows the poem.

His fine motor skills is definitely something that can be improved using these Calvert lessons. I propped up a baby book and had him follow the colors used to draw the cradle, the baby, the sky...

His hair is actually growing longer so I had used a rubber band from school to tie them together.

Homeschooling: Lesson 9 - Closing Season, Little Jack Horner, Bayang Magiliw, Basketball

This was a lazy Sunday and instead of running around or playing with his toys, Dabby insisted that have school.

Had a closing discussion on the seasons we have here: dry and wet. After that we proceeded with learning Little Jack Horner which is already familiar with from his nursery rhymes and songs playlist. I had him repeat the poem but her was really getting bored with it. So I had him continue with the 'play' activity to wake him up.

We did the inside and outside activity and we remembered that he still has unopened toys from his Lola. One of it was basketball set. We opened it and from there, had fun with learning inside and outside. :)

We also used a score board to list his scores and we both took turns throwing it inside the ring. Whenever one of us scores a point, I jot it down on the board to teach him counting too while we were at it.

After such, he was already pumped up. We continued with the Reading Readiness activity.

For his next activity, I had him choose things inside the room by color and he drew each of it on his paper.

He then drew a picture of a fish swimming in the sea (note how huge those waves are LOL)

Had him listen to "Lupang Hinirang" on YouTube and explained to him it was a song for the Philippines. As of writing, whenever he sees the Philippine flag he always told me to sing the Lupang Hinirang.

EXTRA:

We went to Park Mall after lunch. It was my boys' first time there and they enjoyed the stroll.

Dinner at Moon Cafe.
